WALK THE FARM EVENT
Introduction
Since 2011, thousands join together at Tanaka Farms in Irvine, California for a leisurely one and a half mile walk around a real working farm sampling freshly harvested fruits and vegetables along the way.

Tanaka Farms and the Orange Coast Optimist Club (OCO) hope to spread awareness and help send a message of kibou (hope) to farmers around the world devastated by natural disasters as well as providing agricultural education to farmers in Japan.
​
100% of the net proceeds go to providing support for farmers suffering from natural disasters, to providing scholarships for students of Iwate University's School of Agriculture and to providing grants to teach new farmers that will renew areas that were affected by the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami.

Walk the Farm has created a common goal for the Japanese American community and the community in general to come together for a cause to help others that are suffering. It's a chance for Japanese Americans to touch and connect to their roots. Walk the Farm involves over 80 different organizations and businesses from the community.
